Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU), as a financial institution, is an essential service that must remain open during this historic period. As we take our words, “Human Centered Banking” very seriously, this means that we need to do everything we can to take care of our members (credit unions have members, not customers), while keeping our employees safe.
To that end, WPCCU, has ordered masks and gloves for all frontline employees, as well as paying them a 25% premium for stepping up to serve our members in this unprecedented time. Additionally, plexiglass barriers are being installed at the desks of our member service representatives to keep everyone just a bit safer (these representatives are like new account reps at a bank). “Bandit barriers” have already been in-place at our teller lines. So, the barriers also help prevent staff and members from infecting one another with the coronavirus. Our branches have been practicing “social distancing” for several weeks. Branch hours have been modified and some locations have been temporarily closed. While we understand that this has caused inconveniences for our members, we believe that the best way to take care of our members is to take care of our employees, first.

We’re in this together. Be safe!
