Photo Contest Official Rules
1. NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY IN ORDER TO ENTER OR WIN THE PHOTO CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.
2. Sponsor: Water and Power Community Credit Union (“WPCCU,” “The Credit Union”) is the sponsor of the Photo Contest (“Contest”). WPCCU’s business address is 1053 West Sunset Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
3. Entry Period: Contest begins at 12:01 AM Pacific Time (PT) on 12/06/2024 and ends at 11:59 PM PT on 1/03/2025. All entries must be received by 1/03/2025.
4. Eligibility: To qualify for the Photo Contest, all entrants must be at least eighteen (18) years of age and entrants who are WPCCU members in good standing. WPCCU employees, officials and members of their immediate families are not eligible to participate in the Contest. By entering this Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of The Credit Union. This is a skill-based contest. The Contest is subject to all applicable laws and regulations and is void where prohibited.
5. How to Enter: Original photographs taken by the Entrant must be submitted online during the Entry Period at www.wpccu.org/photo-contest. Limit up to 5 photo entries per person. Any act to subvert the entry process in the Contest is prohibited and may result in disqualification.
By entering the Contest, the Entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted photograph is an original work created solely by the Entrant, that the photograph does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the photograph. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not the focal point of another person’s work.
Submitted photographs must not, in the sole discretion of WPCCU, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
All submissions to the Contest remain the property of the Entrant; as a condition for entry, Entrant grants WPCCU a perpetual, unconditional, right to reproduce any submission for editorial or promotional purposes. Additional terms and conditions for submissions will be included during the submission process.
6. Prizes: Three prizes will be awarded. The winner of the first-place prize will receive: $100 cash; second place prize will receive $50 cash; third place prize will receive $25 cash. In the event of a tie, prizes will be awarded to both Entrants. Cash prizes will be transferred to winner’s WPCCU Primary Share account. One prize per person. Winning entries will be announced on WPCCU’s website by 1/15/2025. Winners will be notified by phone and/or mail with details on how to receive prize. Prizes must be claimed by 1/29/2025.
7. Judging: Entries will be evaluated by the Photo Contest Committee. The committee will evaluate entries based on the following criteria: Creativity (40%), Photographic quality (40%), and Fun factor (20%). Decisions of the Committee is final and binding.
8. Liability/General Rules: WPCCU is not responsible for any loss which may occur in connection with the Contest. Entrant agrees to hold WPCCU harmless from any liability arising from participation in the Contest or the acceptance, receipt, possession, or misuse of the prize. WPCCU and each of its officials, employees, members, representatives, and agents are not responsible for any negligence, claims, liability, injury, property loss, or other damages of entrants and/or winners arising from, or in connection with acceptance, receipt, possession, or use/misuse of prizes awarded or participation in this Contest. The prize cannot be substituted, assigned, or transferred by the winner. WPCCU reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value should the featured prize become unavailable for any reason. WPCCU reserves the right to disqualify entrants who fail to follow these Official Rules and regulations, or who make any misrepresentations relative to the Contest and redemption of a prize. WPCCU is not responsible for any inaccurate or incorrect information, whether caused by tampering, hacking, or by any equipment or programming associated with the Contest.
9. Tax Issues: WPCCU will report all prize winnings to the appropriate state and federal agencies as required by applicable law. Winner is responsible for all tax consequences, if any, of the prize.
10. Publicity Authorization: Each winner agrees to permit WPCCU to utilize his/her name, likeness, and photos in promotional and other Credit Union materials, including the WPCCU website and social media sites, without additional compensation or permission, except where prohibited by law.
11. Arbitration: Notice of Binding Arbitration Agreement. Each entrant and WPCCU agrees to attempt to settle informally any disputes arising out of or connected with this Contest or any prize awarded. If that cannot be done, WPCCU and each entrant agrees that any dispute arising out of or connected with the Contest will be resolved by BINDING ARBITRATION administered by the America Arbitration Administration in accordance with its Commercial Dispute Resolution Procedures and Supplementary Procedures for Consumer-Related Disputes. Each entrant thus GIVES UP HIS OR HER RIGHT TO GO TO COURT to assert or defend his or her rights under these Official Rules (EXCEPT for matters that may be taken to SMALL CLAIMS COURT). Each entrant's rights will be determined by a NEUTRAL ARBITRATOR and NOT a judge or jury. You are entitled to a FAIR HEARING, BUT the arbitration procedures are SIMPLER AND MORE LIMITED THAN RULES APPLICABLE IN COURT. Arbitrator decisions are as enforceable as any court order and are subject to VERY LIMITED REVIEW BY A COURT. The place of arbitration shall be Los Angeles County, California. 12. Choice of Law: All issues and questions concerning the construction, validity, interpretation, and enforceability of these Official Rules, or the rights and obligations of Entrant and WPCCU in connection with the Contest, shall be governed by, and construed in accordance with, the substantive laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to choice of law rules.
13. Water and Power Community Credit Union Membership Eligibility: Membership with Water and Power Community Credit Union is available to individuals who live, work, worship, or attend post-secondary school in the Counties of Los Angeles and San Bernardino. A $25 savings balance is required.
